Young carers are children and young people aged 25 years or under, who help to support a family member or friend living with disability, mental illness, drug or alcohol dependency, chronic condition, terminal illness, or who is ageing or frail.
Carers NSW is facilitating an online Young Carer Awareness Training session that can help you identify young carers in your community and connect them with supports to ensure young carers achieve their highest potential.
In this 60-minute session we will share information about:
- Who young carers are
- What they are doing for the people they care for
- Some of the impacts that they can experience while juggling school, work and their caring role
- Some of the current research around young carers
- Information about supports for young carers
The team will also be joined by a young carer who will share their caring and lived experience.
If you are interested in attending Young Carer Awareness Training but you require more information, please contact the Carers NSW Young Carer team on 02 9280 4744 or email youngcarers@carersnsw.org.au.
