Carers NSW is the peak non-government organisation for carers in NSW, part of the National Carer Network and a member of Carers Australia. Carers NSW works with the other state and territory Carer Organisations. Our focus is on improving the lives of carers.
Carers NSW works with all carers regardless of their age, location, life-stage or circumstances. This includes those caring for individuals with support needs relating to ageing, disability, health and mental illness.
Carers NSW is a not-for-profit registered charity and company limited by guarantee. We are governed by a Board of Directors in accordance with the Corporations Act 2001 and the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission Act 2012.
Carers NSW is based in Sydney, with regional offices in Coffs Harbour, Newcastle, Tamworth and Gunnedah, and provides a range of services to support carers across NSW.
Carers NSW acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land, and pays respect to Elders past, present and future.
Our funding
Carers NSW receives funding from a range of sources including the NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) and the Australian Government Department of Social Services (DSS).
Carers NSW also receives one-off project funding for specific activities. Other sources of funding include fee for services programs, which pay for services based on individual service agreements, donations, sponsorship and fundraising. Many partners also provide in-kind and pro-bono support and assistance to Carers NSW.
Carers NSW is endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient organisation and is registered as an Income Tax Exempt Charity.
Accreditation
Carers + Employers
Carers NSW is an accredited carer employer under the Carers + Employers National Accreditation Program, having met the employers standards for Level 2, Commit.
The Carers + Employers program defines best-practice standards for supporting staff with caring responsibilities across 5 key areas; carer recognition, policies and procedures, capacity building, communication and awareness and, practical workplace support.
Quality Improvement Council (QIC)
Carers NSW is accredited under the QIC Health and Community Services Standards.
The QIC Standards focus on the way an organisation delivers their services. The QIC Standards offer a detailed review of an organisations systems across many areas, including governance, corporate systems and service delivery.
The QIC Standards were created by the QIC in the 1990s and have played an important role in the implementation and development of continuous quality improvement across Australian organisations

Voice Project
